What is Waynabox?
Waynabox sells surprise trips. We call them surprise trips because you don’t know the destination at the time of booking. The customer books and we organize the trip, keeping the secret until a few days before departure, when we reveal it by email.
Our surprise trips can be by plane or by road.
The general process is to select the origin of the trip, select the dates, customize the experience, and Waynabox will take care of everything. A way to live more and plan less.

Here we explain in detail what the different types of trips we offer are like, what features they have and how they can be booked.

Types of trip
1. Trips by plane (flight + hotel)
All trips by plane include round-trip flights plus accommodation.

Surprise Trip to Europe
Trips can be between 2 and 5 days. Destinations are mainly top European cities, including some cities in Morocco.
We offer packages that include flight and hotel. Flights are always direct, which allows you to maximize your time at the destination; however, if the traveler has any schedule restrictions, they can indicate them when making the reservation. We select centrally located hotels or those with very good transport connections. The base price includes a room in a 3-star hotel with a minimum rating of 3.5 on TripAdvisor or Booking. If you want to improve your accommodation, you can pay a supplement and opt for a 4-star hotel (minimum rating 4.0) or even a premium 5-star hotel (minimum rating 4.5).
The traveler can book from different cities. These are the possible origins: Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, Málaga, Sevilla, Mallorca, Bilbao, Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Munich, Stuttgart, Vienna, Brussels, Bordeaux, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Nice, Paris, Toulouse, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Bologna, Milan, Naples, Rome, Venice, Lisbon, Porto, London, Basel and Geneva. It is not possible to book from cities other than these.
The luggage included in the trip is what the airline includes by default. Normally, airlines include a bag or backpack that fits under the seat. If you want to make sure you have a cabin suitcase of approximately 10 kg, you need to add it as an extra. This allows us to choose an airline that includes luggage by default or to purchase it separately if it does not.
Other extras that can be purchased are breakfast or seats together.
Prices are fixed. They start from a base price; for example, from Barcelona 2 days / 1 night is €125 per person. But dates with high demand may have supplements. For example, they may cost €150, €200, €250, etc.
If a traveler travels alone, there is a supplement of €50 every 2 nights of travel. This is to guarantee the same hotel quality as when traveling as a pair.
All the trip information is revealed 48 hours before the trip.
Surprise Island Trip
Trips can be between 3 and 7 days. Destinations are mainly Mediterranean islands, the Canary Islands and the Azores.
We include flights plus hotel. Flights are always direct and we maximize the time at the destination (although the user can mark restrictions at the time of booking if they have any schedule limitations). The hotels are near the beach or well connected to it. The price includes a 3-star hotel with a good rating on TripAdvisor/Booking (+3.5). The traveler can upgrade the hotel by paying an extra. They can choose to switch to a superior hotel, which are 4-star hotels with a very good rating (+4), or to a premium hotel, which are 5-star hotels with an excellent rating (+4.5).
The traveler can book from different cities. These are the possible origins: Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Milan and Rome. It is not possible to book from cities other than these.

Surprise Trip to the Americas
Trips can be between 6 and 7 days with 4 or 6 nights respectively. Destinations are mainly top cities across the American continent, such as: New York, Miami, San Francisco, Mexico City, Panama City, Toronto, Santiago de Chile or Lima, among others.
We include flights plus hotel. Flights can have a layover with a maximum duration of 4 hours. Hotels are central or well connected. The price includes a 3-star hotel with a good rating on TripAdvisor/Booking (+3.5). The traveler can improve the hotel by paying an extra. They have the option of switching to a superior hotel, which are 4-star hotels with a very good rating (+4), or to a premium hotel, which are 5-star hotels with an excellent rating (+4.5).
The traveler can book from different cities. These are the possible origins: Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Milan and Rome. It is not possible to book from cities other than these.
In this trip we include as luggage a bag/backpack (that fits under the seat) plus a hand suitcase of about 8–10 kg depending on the airline. If the traveler wants to add more luggage, they can do so as an extra.
Other extras that can be purchased are breakfast or seats together.
Prices are fixed. They start from a base price; for example, from Barcelona 6 days / 4 nights are €950 per person. But dates with high demand may have supplements. For example, they may cost €1150, €1350, etc.
If a traveler travels alone, there is a supplement of €300. This is to guarantee the same hotel quality as when traveling as a pair.

Travel insurance
We have travel insurance that the traveler can purchase in surprise trips by plane. The policy can be consulted at this URL: https://cdn1.waynabox.com/pdf/ancillaries/es/insurance_explained.pdf. This URL changes depending on the user’s language, simply by changing the /es to /fr or /de according to the desired language.
Booking for children under 2 years old
When it comes to babies, the booking process at Waynabox is very simple. The person who makes the booking can add children aged 0 to 2 as babies. This type of booking has a cost of €50 (provided it is a plane reservation, since in a road trip babies do not pay anything; payment starts from 2 years of age). Although it may seem a low price, it is important to highlight that this fee covers several essential services for the little ones. The price of €50 includes both the plane ticket and the crib in the accommodation, as long as the client requests it at the time of booking, within the comments section. This way, if the client decides to travel with a baby, they can make sure that the baby has a suitable place to rest during the trip at no additional cost for the crib, as long as availability allows. The client has to keep in mind that if the baby is 2 years old at the time of the trip, they count as a child and must be added as such.
On the other hand, children from 2 years old are not considered babies, and therefore must be registered as children in the booking process. The main difference is that from 2 years old, children pay the same price as adults. This means that there are no special rates or discounts for children from that age, and the cost of their plane ticket will be the same as that of any adult.
Airlines usually offer special policies for passengers traveling with babies and young children up to approximately 11 years of age. Normally, children under 11 can sit next to one of the adults they are traveling with without having to pay for the adjacent seat, but this can vary depending on the airline, which is why Waynabox advises booking seats to be able to ensure sitting together.
Although these policies may vary slightly depending on the airline, it is important that the client reviews the information on the airline’s website when their flight information is revealed, 48 hours before traveling. Generally, the following rules apply:
Baby luggage
- Stroller or baby seat: Most airlines allow you to bring a stroller or baby seat free of charge. This can be handed in at the check-in counter or, in some cases, brought to the boarding gate.
- Portable crib or airplane bassinet: Some airlines offer a portable crib or airplane bassinet free of charge, but this must be requested in advance. Availability of these cribs may be limited and depends on the airline and the type of aircraft.
- Additional baby baggage: Airlines usually allow a diaper bag and other essential items such as baby food, milk, bottles, etc. This may vary depending on the policies of each airline, but in general, these items do not usually count toward the standard baggage limit.
Child luggage
- Children over 2 years old, who already have their own assigned seat, generally have the right to bring one bag or backpack per passenger, the same policy as adults.
In general, most airlines allow you to bring a stroller, baby seat and other essential items free of charge. Babies under 2 years old generally do not have the right to their own seat without an additional payment, while children from 2 years old must have their own seat and pay the same price as adults. It is important that the client checks the policies of the airline they will fly with, since each one has specific rules about luggage, seats, etc.
Paying in installments
The client always has the option of paying for the trip in installments if it is a reservation of more than €400 or a gift of more than €250. 2. Road trips
General characteristics of road trips
Road trips are journeys by road where the customer does not know the surprise destination until 48 hours before traveling. When their destination is revealed, they will be sent an email with a personalized recommendation map so they can enjoy the experience to the fullest.
It is always possible to book a road trip around 4 days in advance, but the customer must take into account that there may be dates with closed availability, as well as that there may be price supplements depending on the dates chosen (for example, at Easter, summer, Christmas or some long weekends during the year, the price may be slightly increased to be able to offer a quality in line with what Waynabox offers). There are also some themes that are always more expensive because the areas where the accommodations are located are of tourist interest, as could be the case of Sea Adventures.
With this travel option, if the customer chooses a road trip, Waynabox will reserve accommodation in a surprise destination near home. It is usually between one and three hours from your city of origin, but if it is a trip of many days, it may be farther away so you can enjoy the trip to the fullest.
If the customer chooses this type of trip, they can choose the city of origin and the theme that best suits their tastes (Sea Adventures is based on coastal areas of tourist attraction, rural getaway in areas surrounded by nature, medieval Castile or Catalonia will take you to towns of medieval and historical interest). If customers want to know which accommodations or destinations they may get, they can visit the “hotels” section on the Waynabox website, where there is a selection of accommodations as examples, so the customer can have a slightly more concrete vision of the type of accommodation quality offered or the towns they could get.
In addition, if customers depart from Barcelona or Madrid, they will be able to choose the option of vehicle rental and choose the preferred pick-up times on the website during the booking process. With this option, fuel would be included in the vehicle rental price.
In road trips, customers can add additional services such as superior quality accommodation, where manor houses, rural hotels with special charm are usually offered, as well as 4-star hotels and breakfast is also included in this option.
On the other hand, if they travel with a pet, they can add it in the booking process, indicating the name, weight and breed, since many accommodations ask for this information in advance in order to confirm the reservation. If customers are going to travel with two pets, they will have to mention it in the comments section and leave all the details of the pet such as weight, breed and name, so we can see the possibility of looking for a hotel that allows two pets with their characteristics and in the days following the reservation, we will confirm everything by email to the customers.
In the road trip option, there is also the option of adding a wine tasting and winery visit if you choose the theme called “va de vinos”; it is a free activity that is included in the price of the same. On the other hand, if you choose the theme called “into the wild,” you can choose a surprise adventure activity that is usually outdoor activities such as kayaking, rafting, climbing, zip lines… The type of activity may vary depending on the weather and availability.
If the customer wants to book but their town or city is not within the possible origins, they can select the nearest origin and put their real departure town or city in the comments section, so Waynabox will take it into account to be able to make a personalized accommodation reservation based on their origin. This way Waynabox ensures not having to drive more than necessary and being able to enjoy the experience based on the theme near home.
In road trips, Waynabox lets the customer choose between three types of travel pace
- Low
The low travel pace in a road trip is one in which the customer sleeps in the same accommodation throughout the trip. This option is ideal for those who prefer not to be constantly changing places and are looking for a more relaxed trip, without having to pack every day. - High
The high travel pace in a road trip is one in which the customer sleeps in a different accommodation each night. The accommodations are usually not very far from each other, at most an hour or an hour and a half. - Surprise
The surprise travel pace in a road trip is one in which the customer does not know how many nights they are going to sleep in each accommodation until they discover their destination. In this option, Waynabox chooses the travel pace to be able to book one or several accommodations depending on the areas to be visited and the places of interest in those areas.
Name change
If a customer requests a name change in their reservation, first we have to ask for the locator.
Then, we explain the following: Once the reservation has already been managed, changing the name entails an additional cost. This cost is set by the airline that we have assigned for the trip. Although we provide a price for the change, it is important to know that this price is subject to change, because flight fares are constantly updated.
To make the change, we need the data of the person who will not be traveling and the complete data of the person who will be traveling.
It is also important that the change is for a passenger of the same type: adult for adult or child for child.
Changes in the reservation
In trips by plane
Changes can be made to any type of reservation within the first 24 hours of making it at no cost. Name changes, date changes or removing extra excluded destinations.
After the first 24 hours we can:
- Name changes (to change one traveler for another). Whenever the airline allows it, the cost also depends on the airline. We have to ask for the booking locator to check the case.
- Remove destinations from the list of options. It is not possible to do so if the reservation has already been processed.
- Adding new travelers is possible. Ask for the booking locator and the traveler’s data so that we can find out what the cost is.
In road trips
It is always possible to make name changes in the reservation. We can also add more travelers. Ask for the booking locator and the traveler’s data so that we can find out what the cost is.
It is not possible to cancel the reservation after the first 24 hours.
Airport transport transfer service
We inform the client that the Waynabox pack does not include transport to and from the airport, so the client can choose the option they want to reach the city center. We send them a link so they can see the different options: https://www.rome2rio.com
ETA authorization for the United Kingdom
We have to inform the client that in case the United Kingdom is their destination, we will notify them and give them all the necessary information to request the ETA authorization two days before the trip. The passengers on the reservation will have to do the paperwork themselves, but we will provide them with the instructions to make it simple two days before the trip.
Time the destination is revealed
We have to explain to the client that their destination and all the information about the trip will be sent to them two days before departure, around 8:00 a.m. In addition, we can inform them that 4 days before the trip, around 2:00 p.m., they will receive a clue about their destination.
Change destination
If the client asks if the destination can be changed, we have to inform them that once the reservation has been managed it is not possible to change the chosen destination for their trip since the flight and hotel rates are unfortunately non-refundable.
Services included in the Europe trip package
If the client asks which services are included in Waynabox trips, we have to inform them that the pack includes round-trip flights and the hotel at their destination. We have to explain that in the purchase process they can add some extras separately such as luggage, breakfast, cancellation insurance, seats together on the plane, etc. We have to explain that the transfer to the airport is not included.
Cancellation conditions
If a customer wants to cancel their trip, the answer is that they cannot.
It is necessary to specify that, as stated in Waynabox’s terms and conditions, all services included in the Waynabox package, and the Waynabox package itself, are non-refundable and non-cancelable.
In case the client or the travelers cancel the service, Waynabox will not refund any amount paid for Waynabox nor for any of the optional services that we offer (the penalty for canceling the combined trip is 100% of the reservation amount).
If the client cannot travel and has taken out travel insurance, they can request a refund in case of justified cancellation.
In this case, we will be at their disposal to send them all the necessary documents.
Merging several reservations
It is possible to merge several reservations so that customers go together on the same trip. To do this it is essential that the reservations are identical (same origin, same dates, same time slots, same excluded cities and same extras added). Once the reservations are made, they have to contact us with the respective locators so that we can unify them.
We must differentiate between two types of reservations:
- Reservations made with the Black Friday promotion: merging these reservations has a cost of €50. We can send them a link to make the payment.
- Reservations made without the Black Friday promotion: merging these reservations has no cost.
